Plant Care — information
Leaf Loss
Ahhhh, the last song of summer has finally been sung. The leaves on the trees are turning, the weather is cooling off, and your little home jungle may start to slow down and reflect these changes as well. Leaf loss is a common and unavoidable part of being a plant parent. Sometimes it is due to under/over watering, and sometimes itโs just part of the changing seasons. Our plants are excellent at taking care of themselves, and in the cooler months with their shorter and darker days, our plants may drop leaves so that they have less foliage to maintain....
PFAP Plant Guides: Air Plants
Airplants, you say? What the heck kind of plant grows in the air? โฃโ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โฃโ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ Tillandsia are epiphytic plants that donโt need soil to grow. They like lots of bright, indirect light and need to be watered by either soaking them or spraying them with water. They like a light, airplant-specific fertilizer spray too.ย These beauties are great for a newbie plant parent and will bloom if given the right care. These blooms are beautiful, but usually mean the plant is coming to the end of its life. Do not fret though, they will usually produce pups or offshoots...
PFAP Plant Guides: Ficus Ruby
One of our most popular sellers since we launched PFAP is the gorgeous green and white Ficus โTiniekeโ with its stunning painterly variegation. The one pictured here, however, is itโs breathtaking sister, the Ficus โRubyโ. These plants arenโt too finicky, but they do like to be left alone! Donโt move them too much and avoid watering them too heavily. They like to dry out and to be kept in warmer temps. If a doting plant parent thinks theyโre helping out by watering too much or moving it around, Ficus โRubyโ may lose some of its leaves. If you prefer a...
What's The Deal With Plant Care Instructions?
Let's talk about plant care instructions! These tidbits of info are great, but they are also more like guidelines than actual rules (Captain Barbossa, is that you?) They are guidelines that were written regarding a specific environment that you may not be able to perfectly replicate. With that said, that doesn't mean you can't adjust the plants surroundings to give it what it needs! Most things are an easy fix. Although they are beautiful, plants are not merely decor. They are living beings that have needs just like you or me. The most important part of learning to care for...
